FilePulse 3.1 Release – Google Vision OCR Integration

What’s New?

With FilePulse 3.1, you can now automatically extract text from uploaded files using Google Vision’s OCR (Optical Character Recognition) technology. That text is saved directly into a Salesforce Task, making it easy to reference, report on, and act on your notes—right from within Salesforce.

How It Works
  • File is Uploaded: A document, image, or scan is uploaded via a FilePulse Solution.
  • Text is Extracted: Google Vision scans for typed or handwritten content.
  • Task is Created: The recognized text is inserted into a Salesforce Task’s description field.
  • Task is Reportable: The task is linked to the appropriate Salesforce record and appears in reports.
Supported Input Types
  • Scanned forms (PDFs, images)
  • Field notes (typed or handwritten)
  • Whiteboard snapshots
  • Photos of paper documentation
Why It Matters
  • No more manual transcription of field notes or intake forms
  • Make whiteboard ideas permanent and reportable
  • Search and filter all tasks by extracted content
  • Stay compliant with a paper trail that’s machine-readable
Requirements
  • A FilePulse Solution must be configured for the applicable Salesforce object
  • Salesforce Email Service must be set up to allow files to be received via email
  • No additional OCR setup is needed once the solution is enabled
Notes
  • This feature uses Google Vision to process and extract text
  • Accuracy may vary depending on handwriting legibility
  • All extracted content stays securely within your Salesforce instance
